Established in 2015
Our Story
Our story began on April 9th, 2014 when four women envisioned a change for Valdosta State University founded on diversity, equality, unity and strength. The women dreamed of bringing Valdosta State its FIRST social sorority based on cultural awareness and the empowerment of ALL women.
The women formed their interest group and chose the name Women of Diversity. As they worked to achieve their goal, they encountered many obstacles of prejudice and adversity within the university. Many left along the way, but the group new gave up.
In the spring of 2015, Women of Diversity petitioned for the second time to the Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) in their quest to come to campus. This second attempt was not in vain and they were granted Associate Member status under the CPC.
The journey continued and twelve women were inducted into the newly created colony at the beginning of fall 2015. On October 31st, 2015 at 5:52pm, the Valdosta State University Colony revealed their Fervent Founding Line, Sentíma Lotusfloro. Their dreams finally became a reality, a strong start to their journey to combat the everyday struggles to further expand the campus towards cultural acceptance.
"Bringing SLG to campus was a real dream come true. I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish. Being a part of the first multicultural here at a Valdosta is both terrifying and exciting. We have faced much adversity, opposition and confusion, but we are here. Our goal is to empower all women regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual preference, religion, and traditions!! I am proud to wear these letters, these colors. I want to make an impact on campus, in the community and world. I want people to say there goes a Gamma, and say it with pride!!

To this day the Valdosta State University Colony of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. stays true to their founding principles and continuously promotes standard of excellence in all areas on and off the campus.
That tradition of excellence continued and in the fall of 2016, the colony welcomed seven new panthers to the colony.
The Aberrant Alpha Line, Rosas Resilientes were revealed on November 5th, 2016 at 7:11:52pm.
